The Presiding Bishop inaugurates task force to establish a women centre
The Evangelical Lutheran in Tanzania (ELCT) Presiding Bishop, Dr. Alex Malasusa has inaugurated a task force charged with the task of establishing a women centre in Dodoma Region.
Members of the task force includes Hon. Mercy Silla, the District Commissioner for Mkuranga; Mr. Shedrack Kitomari, the NSSF Manager in Manyara Region and Mr. Julius Mosi, the General Secretary of the ELCT Northern Diocese. Others are Mr. Titus Ngwatu, a businessman based in Arusha and Mr. Theophilus Kahigwa, a Director of Active KMK Consultancy firm in Dar es Salaam.
At a brief ceremony that took place at the ELCT Head Office in Arusha on 7 April this year, the Presiding Bishop urged women to persevere and be courageous to pursue what they believe in.
In order not to let down those who proposed the task force, Bishop Malasusa suggested that an evaluation should be carried out after one year to determine whether or not the team was fulfilling its obligations as anticipated.
The idea of having a centre will among others host a health research station for women; a girls boarding school, a hostel and conference and retreat facilities.
The ELCT Director for Women and Children Work, Mrs. Faustina Nillan, said in an interview that participants of the forthcoming Women Assembly from the ELCT Dioceses to be held 9 to 13 July will also discuss strategies to raise money for creating the centre.
The theme of the ELCT Women Assembly to be held at Kibaha in Coast Region is Take heed, be quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint Isaiah 7:4.
