Mukuta is no more
Retired Bishop
Paulo R. Mukuta of Karagwe Diocese passed on 19 August 2014 at the
KCMC hospital in Moshi where he was hospitalized suffering from
stroke.
A brief statement
issued by the Secretary General of the Evangelical Lutheran Church
in Tanzania (ELCT) said the late Bishop Mukuta (78) was born on
17 November 1936 at Rwabwere village in Karagwe, Kagera Region and
consecrated to become the first Bishop of Kagera Diocese on January
1979 at Kukajange Parish.
He studied at
Makumira Lutheran Theological College (now Tumaini University Makumira)
for a Certificate in Theology 1961 1965 and was ordained
to become a pastor on 9 January 1965 at Kashura Lutheran Parish.
He joined Luther Northwestern Seminary in the United States for
Bachelor of Divinity (BD) degree (1971 -1974) and obtained Master
in Theology (MTh.) degree in 1974 at the same university.
The late Mukuta
who served as pastor in various parishes in the ELCT North-Western
and Karagwe Dioceses was married to Agnes Kokuhilwa Mulokozi in
1963 and together they were blessed with eight children (four boys
and four girls).
