Dr Mwaikali Consecrated as New Bishop of Konde Diocese Reverend Dr. Edward Johnson Mwaikali was consecrated on 14 January 2018 to become the new leader of Konde Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania. He took over from Bishop Dr. Israel-Peter Mwakayolile who has retired.
Shortly after his installation, Bishop Dr. Mwaikali consecrated Rev. Geoffrey Samwel Mwakihaba to become Assistant to the Bishop in Konde Diocese. Born on 16th August 1969 in Tukuyu District in the then Mbeya Region, Bishop Mwaikali is a holder of Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Tumaini University Makumira where he studied from 1994 to 1999. He was ordained to be a pastor in 2000 and became Pastor-in-charge of Katumba Congregation in Katavi Region 1999-2000 before moving to Tukuyu to become a pastor at Konde Diocese Cathedral 2002-2003. Bishop Dr Mwaikali went for a Master of Philosophy in Theology studies at the Norwegian Lutheran School in Oslo 2000-2002. He was Coordinator of the HIV/AIDS awareness programme in Konde Diocese dubbed Local Community Capacity Building Project 2004-2005. From 2006 to 2009 he was Assistant to the Bishop in Konde Diocese. He went for a Post graduate Diploma in Economic Development in the Netherlands at the Hague Institute of Social Studies 2007-2008. Between 2010 and 2011 he studied Master of Science Degree in Organisation Development and Transformation at the Nairobi based United States International University. He obtained his PhD from Cebu Doctors University in the Philippines 2011-2015. He has been a lecturer at the Ruaha Catholic University based in Iringa from 2012 to 2017.
